E4 Hotel
This TV ident has being created to allow the channel to identify themselves on screen to allowing the audience to associate programmes with channel. The ident has being made using both stop motion animation and CGI techniques. The ident opens in a Hotel room where there are two single beds and suitcases in the room, the camera then pans across the room and we see the curtains closing by themselves a purple drapes then falls down over the curtains following the the chest of drawers. Immediately the audience is attracted to the purple drape as the primary colour stands out against the dullsit background. The draws then begin to partially open on by one. The lighting in the room becomes darker we then see paper birds fly across the room. A quick cut is then used as we see the teddy on the bed come to life and begin to walk although it dragged away by what looks like the tentacles of an unknown create again the colour purple has being used to identify the channel. The two round boxes on the bed also become life like as cameras pop out of the box, the bed covers are the pulled of the bed and the matters taken away mysteriously. The fridge door flings open and what is supposed to look like purple water begins to flood into the room with small E4 logo's circling appearing as small shark fins with two larger shark fins circling in motion. We then see then see the origami birds flying about the room as the robotic creatures fire lasers trying to bring down the bird. As the suitcases on the floor open a card board box is revealed that then opens into the E4 logo. Fairy lights are suddenly stung out across the room. A wide shot is then used so the audience is able to see the overall outlook of what is going on as 3 ducks appear on screen walking about the room.
As mentioned the ident has being created using stop motion animation and CGI. Stop motion animation has being used to create the ident. As the curtains are drawn although it appears they are closing on their own they have been physically manipulated, they will have been moved in small increments each movement individually framed and photographed so when played back the movement appears fast and lifelike. As the chest of draws open the same technique will have being used although the matte purple material that appears like socks spilling out of the drawers. Immediately we are attracted to the bold matte opaque colour as it is bold and bright in contrast to the bland room, the colour purple has being used as it is immediately associated with the channel as its logo has being designed using the colour purple. This effect will have being achieved using stop motion animation again. The CGI content is introduced as we see the teddy bear on the bed begin to move as it has been personified allowing it to move and come to life with the use of 3D computer graphics software. Also as the origami birds begin to fly across the room Cgi will have being used as they have being animated using computer graphics as it not real life footage. All of the colours used are 100% opaque as we cannot see through them. However the fairy lights that are used towards the end of the ident are different as they are shiny and bright standing out against the background, colour rendering has also being used as the strobe lights on the wall are light ip immediatly attracting the audiences attention as they are bright and slightly transparent causing a shiny effect. All of the visual effects used ident such as the floating chairs have again being achieved by using CGI as it is all computer animated.
