The purpose of this is to introduce a film, giving information about the cast and crew featured in the film. The film in question is Alice and Wonderland. This is a Disney film therefore gives the audience a sense of who is responsible for making this film and appeal to an existing audience as it also very childlike.
The title opens with a blank black screen as we slowly see text credits begin to fade in at the centre of the screen in white. The text then fade out and an image fades in of a set background that look like a forest as the image of a cartoon girl Alice falls from the top of the screen to the bottom as the title credits continue to roll fading in and out as each credit changes. As the trees appear to be moving, a wipe is then used as another two characters from the film appear on screen both identical to one another creating the illusion they are hiding behind the trees. As the female character begins to walk through the woods. The shot continues to pan through the woods as the characters move from tree to tree we then see a rabbit quickly running through the woods. Images of teacups and mugs then appear on screen as though they are falling from the air. We the see the three main iconic characters from the screen sat at a table as their heads continue to nod back and forth. The camera then zooms focusing on the background image as the roses that are supposed to be the wallpaper becomes tinted with red and title credits appear. The small female character then appears from behind the rose and begins to move around the screen holding a balloon as though she is floating. Playing cards then come on to the screen spilling out one after another creating a pathway as we see the Alice run across then with credits beginning to appear on the cards. Finally the sequence ends as the Film Title appears on screen focusing slowing zooming in as the text becomes larger.
This film title sequence has being created using CGI and animation. All of the characters have being hand drawn using graphical software on the computer and manipulates to create the illusion of movement. Video composition has being used throughout to create the background and foreground image as images have being superimposed over the top of one another to create one background/foreground image as we see the characters in the woods and the contrast between the colours creating an eerie feeling. All of the colours used are dark hinting at the unknown metaphorically representing the parallel world we see in the film. All of the footage is 100% opaque as we cannot see through them also all of the colours are matte. All of the text has being digitally created using the same font throughout with the exception of the Film Title that we see appear at the end of the sequence. As the sequence was originally created for the cinema is likely the screen ratio will be widescreen (16:9) in cinematic sequence.
