Monsters Inc
The purpose of this is to introduce the film giving information about the cast and crew with an incling of what is to come. The film in question is Monsters inc a children's Disney film. The sequnce opens with the famous Disney logo made using a still image of a 'magical' castle and a shooting star passing over it. We then see different shapes beginning to emerge coming together to form what appears to be an opening door. Primary colours suvh as purple are used against a black background allowing them to stand out also giving an indication about who the film is aimed at. We then see a continuous montage of small doors moving across the screen coming together then opening spelling out the words 'Walt Disney Pictures' revealed as the doors quickly open. Using animation we then see the doors spin off and on screen. More text is then used using bold childlike font style, a door then opens and a cartoon snake then appears on screen moving across the screen in and out of the doors as they each open. Again this is an indication as the characters are similar to those featured in the film 'monsters' allowing the audience to know what to expect and hinting about the plot of the film. Several doors then appear to overlap on the screen creating a 3D type effect illusion introducing the title of the film as each door opens and fades off screen. The sequence ends with the camera slowing zooming in to one open door the screen then fades to black creating the impression that the door has shut. The sequence has being created using CGI (computar generated animation) combing 2d graphic images using static scenes and dynamic images. They have created the illusion that both the doors and characters are moving on screen by placing a graphically drawn image and repeatedly replacing the image in the new position it appears. As the charcters (monsters) move across the screen and appear to be eating the letters this would have been acheived by using 3D drawn images built on the computar. The images will have been manipulaed to allow the movement of the charcters mouth using key frames. Distortion has also being used as we see the movment of shapes rotating on screen resulting in an optical system as the images change shape and size.
