Channel 4 Diner.
The purpose of this TV ident is to allow the channel to identify itself to an audience. This particular ident has being created by channel 4 called Diner due to the location and setting od the ident this becomes very obvious as it appears to be set in a run down desolate western town in America as typically associate diners, trailers and several other props we see in the ident with this sort of location all of which are very Americanised. The ident opens with a panning shot as the camera and the audience appear to be travelling through the town almost as though the audience are looking out of a moving car window. We then see a gas station which is lit up using strobe matte alumnus colours in comparison to the dark what appears to be a natural sunsetting light. As the camera pans around we see a tumble weed move past the camera and carry on in the same direction. We then see the Diner which again is lit up using alumnus matte colours. As the camera goes past the diner it appears to slow down and we are able to recognise that the different advertising signs form together to create the outline shape of a 4 representing the channel itself as the primary bright colours allow it to stand out in contrast to the other props on screen including an old pick up truck. The camera has being used to create an effect on the audience as it is not static at any point throughout the ident but pans throughout therefore is constantly moving creating the impression that you as the audience are travelling with the camera. Colour rendering has being used as we see the signs lit up in comparison to the dully lit background setting the strobe lights are shiny therefore slightly transparent allowing the light to reflect of them drawing further attention to the lit up 4. The overall visual effects of the ident is very good the location and setting being key to its success the urban western town intrigues the audience however the brightly lit signs attract the audience's attention and could even creating a vibrant exciting atmosphere that then circulates around the channel therefore leaving a positive impression on the audience. The resolution of the ident has being created for standard TV however when viewed in High definition the bright colours have more of a visual effect. Motion graphics has also being used to create the outline of the 4 using superimposed images layered over the top of one another positioned to create the outline and image.
